“But you, keep yourselves from the things devoted to destruction, lest when you have devoted them you take any of the devoted things and make the camp of Israel a thing for destruction and bring trouble upon it.”

‭‭Joshua‬ ‭6‬:‭18‬ ‭ESV‬‬

It’s important to correctly posture my heart towards God’s work. I can easily look to gain for myself. God has and will always provide for me. I can’t fully serve God and be seeking gain for myself at the same time. My heart will always choose to focus on me.

I missed reading my chapter yesterday. It was the first day I have missed in 81 days. I was quite frustrated with myself last night in bed before falling asleep. It was late and I thought about getting up to complete it, but my heart was not in it. I questioned my motives and I fell asleep feeling defeated.

Truthfully, reading a chapter every day has been very beneficial. Taking time to reflect on a verse that the Lord might be speaking to me through has been valuable time spent thinking and praying.

I might not be on a daily streak anymore, but I’m going to continue on because I need time in God’s word more than ever and I want to encourage you to be in his word daily as well.
